First off, my name is not actually Moogle Form Replicator, it is Sebastian. This is merely the awesome naming convention I use for Gryphcon. You may call me Moogle Form Replicator if you so desire. I do not mind.On to the game then! It takes place in a not so typical D&D universe that I run the campaign for my primary D&D group in, so there's some oddities to go over for character generation. I will also make a few pre-gens for people to choose from if they don't bring their own character. One of the major things to keep in mind for character creation is that there are no gods in this setting (at least none that people would worship, anyway) so Divine classes are flavoured as merely another form of magic - this has no impact on the gameplay of your character, just roleplaying. If a power requires devotion to a certain deity, then we flavour that as a character's philosophy or code of honor, etc.
The campaign takes place in what people simply call 'The Rift' - a strange anomaly across much of reality consisting of countless pocket dimensions ranging from the size of a small island all the way up to the size of a continent. The mysteries of The Rift are vast, especially to the characters you'll be playing; because you just got there. It is known that The Rift does not span every world or plane, but some of the great minded individuals who live in The Rift have determined that it is expanding. This is where your characters come in. When The Rift expands into another world or plane, the first anomalies manifest as cracks in reality that form almost as if they are trying to bring people in. Your characters ended up entering one of these cracks; whether they took a tumble down a hill then found themselves on a different world, walked through a crack brazenly because someone bet them they wouldn't, retreated through one while being chased by bandits because it seemed a good alternative to becoming intimately acquainted with the pointy bit of a sword - the circumstances are up to you!
Make your character at level 12, standard point buy as described in Player's Handbook 1. For enchanted items you may take a level 13 or lower item, a level 12 or lower item, and a level 11 or lower item. You also start with gold equal to the value of a level 11 enchanted item that you can use for picking up the rest of your character's adventuring gear or for filling out the rest of your item slots with lower level items.
I think that just about covers everything I wanted to mention. If you have any questions or want clarification on something feel free to ask.
I'm gonna note this again down here, I will provide pre-gens if people don't want to make their own or don't know how to. Just note that I have a tendency to make.. unusual characters - especially if it's for someone else to play. ^^

I've considered running more than one game, if I do then they'd be separate one-shot style stories taking place in the same universe, that way if someone joins in both they can play the same character in both games, but if someone can only join one then they don't miss any plot. Only reason I haven't set in stone if I'm running more than one game or not is because there are a lot of games at Gryphcon I like the sound of myself, but I do still have a few slots free.

Okie dokes, so I may run a second game set in the Splintered Reality setting after this one, but if I were to run it I only have slot 7 available and that's really early in the morning. If you are all good with mild sleep deprivation then I could run it there, alternately I could drop my slot 8, but I do like the sound of the game I'm in for slot 8. Please let me know if any of you would be able to join if I set up another game in one of those slots. ^^

Yup! In that case both you, and your poor sap of a mount fell into the Rift together! :)

Yup, many cracks are large enough to accommodate beasts of considerable size, some even form in the air. And I'm guessing that means your character is one of the one's adventurous/crazy enough to go through a crack of their own fruition then? :D
