Game Description

Are you prepared for an adventure filled with mystery and intrigue?

Are you prepared for in depth character building and robust world building?

Yes? ... Well... that's unfortunate.

Welcome Inspectors! Welcome to another terribly non-canon briefing!

To clarify on that point – you are Inspectors! A respected (snicker) profession whose skills are saught after by adventurers and nobles alike! It is your job to solve crimes and apprehend villains! Like Inspector Gadget! Or Batman! Or Bruce Wayne – and don't you dare tell me they're the same person. They're nothing alike.

Onto a brief description of the world then! As I said before, incredibly robust. The world is that of fantasy! Man and elf dine together behind city walls! Dwarves bustle about the streets, and cat girls do cute things. Throw in basically every Dungeons and Dragons race too and you're good to go.

It's a world of adventure and magic, but we also have rudimentary technologies, plumbing included!

I've said it before and will say it again; gotta love fantasy worlds where you aren't dying of dysentery!

Enough of this digression though. Let us move on!

A crime has already been committed! A grand heist orchestrated upon the royal treasury! However the royal guard enacted lockdown procedures with great haste. As such, the culprit – along with a half dozen guards and a handful of nobles – have been locked within the inner halls of the palace. None can get past the magical barriers containing them, however there is worry that a villain clever enough to pull off this heist will too be clever enough to bypass these securities!

Where do you come in? JUST WAIT I'M GETTING TO THAT. PEOPLE THESE DAYS. SCOFF.

Well you see, everyone's favorite journalist of the acclaimed newspaper The Paragon's Journal, and excellently adorable Cat Girl – Pefala Myotahn – has been granted leave by a Prince to enter the barrier and get her scoop on the story as it unfolds; but you see, she doesn't merely wish to break the story. Oh no! She wishes to break the CASE!

However; our feline friend here is no inspector, but she is smart enough to know her limitations! Oh ho hoo but she is not smart enough to get reliable help! She has requested the aid of talented inspectors to join her on her venture inside the royal palace! That will be you guys!

That poor, poor woman.

Why is the character who will be introducing the plot a cat girl while the person who will obviously have to be impersonating her is male? Is it a sign of some sort of mental instability? Or mayhaps some latent sexual deviance? Oh ho my dear friend, I would say you are simply reading too far into this.

Let us put aside this grand digression and get back to matters of even grander importance!

You're probably wondering what was stolen, as that is probably crucial to the investigation. Wait, you're not wondering what was stolen? You want to know more about the cat girl? No! We're getting down to business here! It was a crown! Not just any crown though, an artifact known as 'The First Crown' – what is it you ask? IT WAS OBVIOUSLY THE FIRST CROWN USED BY THE FIRST KING. GEEZ. It has since been sealed away in favor of flashier crowns, however there are collectors out there who would pay a... KING'S RANSOM – HAHAHAHA – to get their hands on such a piece.

However I have said quite enough. Let's wrap this up!

What's that? You want more background information on the nobles sealed within the halls? WELL THAT MEANS YOU'RE PROBABLY BETTER INSPECTORS THAN THE CHARACTERS YOU'RE GONNA BE PLAYING AS BECAUSE NONE OF YOU DID YOUR HOMEWORK APPARENTLY.

Honestly though when has playing an investigation by ear ever gone wrong?

:D

Characters will be generated at the start of the game. All you need to do is have a general idea of what kind of person you will be playing; we’ll fill a few things out before we randomly generate some of your investigator’s capabilities.

For example; each investigator will have 3 “Fantastic Traits” that will be drawn randomly from a deck of traits. Such traits include “Immunity to Explosions” “Absurdly Lucky” or “Actually a Legitimate Licensed Inspector.”

And the rest shall be discussed as we begin our shenanigans proper! Until then, I bid you good day! Or... several good days. However many good days must occur between you reading this and the game starting. Likely quite a few good days!
